Darren Misenko joined Fead Construction Law in September 2009, bringing a diverse background in construction, law, and environmental matters.

Since joining the firm, Darren has represented Contractors, Subcontractors, Owners, and individuals in negotiating construction contracts and prosecuting or defending construction claims and litigation. He has assisted clients in resolving disputes with defects, extra work, payment and claims involving the Vermont Agency of Transportation.

Prior to joining Fead Construction Law, Darren served as co-owner, general counsel, and construction project manager of a full-service institutional, commercial, and residential construction management and general contracting business based in Central New York. During this time Darren gained vast experience with hands-on construction and the management of construction projects. He has built or managed the construction or renovation of commercial buildings, apartment buildings, public schools, houses, and custom luxury homes. Representative projects include:

(1) 4 million dollar capital improvement to public school including a 20,000 square foot addition, installation of new windows, extensive site improvements, and asbestos remediation;

(2) 18 million dollars of site improvements and new construction for thirteen stand-alone 10,000 square foot drugstore projects;

(3) 1.7 million dollar capital improvement to public school including installation of new heating system and remodeling of the library, computer lab and several classrooms;

(4) 3 million dollars of site improvements and new construction for a 15,000 square foot custom luxury home with super-insulated wall system, in-floor radiant heat and many custom finishes;

(5) 90-unit student housing complex; and

(6) 2,000 square foot custom home with super-insulated building envelope, independent energy system with battery bank, photovoltaic panels, in-floor radiant heat and many locally-sourced materials.

Darren is licensed to practice as an attorney in the States of New York and Vermont. He is also admitted to the bar of the Federal District Court in Vermont. He is a member of the American Bar Association and its Public Contract law Section, its Litigation Section, its ADR Section and the Forum on the Construction Industry; the Vermont Bar Association; the Chittenden Bar Association; and the Construction Specifications Institute. He has been awarded the Construction Document Technologist designation by the Construction Specifications Institute.

Darren was born in Syracuse, New York and he is a graduate of Vermont Law School (J.D. 2003; M.S.E.L. 2003 cum laude) and the State University of New York at Potsdam (B.A. 1996, cum laude). When away from his law practice, Darren enjoys an active life with his wife Stacey, also an attorney with the firm, and their two sons.
